Commemorating
the 150th anniversary of Lincoln the Postmaster 1833-1983.

Description:
On July 1, 1983, the U.S. Postal Service organized a contingent
of a stage coach, mail wagon, cavalry, pony express riders and walkers
to carry the mail from
Lincoln's New Salem Post Office to Springfield, Illinois. Those
who completed this 22-mile Post Road walk were presented with one
of these bronze medals, the Walking Lincoln. Since the weather was
1001, very few people were able to finish the walk and the remaining
medals were destroyed. Being the organizer and the publisher of
the special Abraham Lincoln ~ The Boy, The Man, to commemorate this
occasion, Phil Wagner was awarded three (3) medals....one for walking,
one for publishing and one for organizing. The three were pinned
with red, white and blue ribbons.

Commemorating the nation's 200th birthday, July 4,
1976.
32" diameter, gold finish metal disk with a silver 2"
diameter Lincoln bust. Presented to Phil Wagner for his effort
in the bicentennial celebration. These events were to help
the D.E.A.F. organization raise money for a meeting hall.
Medal is inscribed on back 200th Birthday,
4 July-1976 Springfield, Illinois.
