Lincoln special Christmas art work positives
by the late artist Lloyd Ostendorf

Twenty-one (21) approximately 5" x 5" negatives were furnished by the late Lloyd Ostendorf to his (then) agent, Phil Wagner, to use to promote the first annual Christmas in Mr. Lincoln's Neighborhood at the Lincoln Home site at 8th & Jackson in Springfield, Illinois. The use of these negatives was to also better acquaint potential art customers who may have wanted original art work by Lloyd. The original negatives were returned to Ostendorf after the first printing of the 5 1/2" x 3 1/2" Christmas Post Cards and the 8" x 10" set of 24 rare Lincoln Christmas prints. Phil Wagner assumed the responsibility, upon the request from the Park Services, of decorating the Lincoln Home Visitor Center. A special matted display of the 8" x 10" prints was used, along with a framed set of 20 commemorative post cards in the shape of a Christmas tree. The Eastern National Book Store was given to sell the sets of 24 rare commemorative prints in a specially designed envelope, along with the sets of 20 rare post cards in a specially designed envelope. The late artist Lloyd Ostendorf autographed a few of the envelopes that housed each set. The remainder of these sets, and additional broken sets became a part of the Wagner~Lincoln collection.

Artist Ostendorf made a different Christmas scene for 21 years, up until December 1988. These positives are an accumulation of twenty-one years of the Lincoln's at Christmas.
