Subject: Lincoln stays in the background while Douglas speaks

Description: At Sullivan, Moultrie County on September 20, 1858, a near riot took place between political supporters of Stephen A. Douglas and Abraham Lincoln's group, but was averted when Lincoln avoided the crowds while enroute to Freeland=s Grove, where he spoke. Douglas is on stage at the courthouse, with Lincoln in forefront.
