Lincoln stays in the background while Douglas speaks
At Sullivan, Moultrie County on September 20, 1858, a near riot
took place between political supporters of Stephen A. Douglas and
Abraham Lincoln's group, but was averted when Lincoln avoided the
crowds while enroute to Freeland=s Grove, where he spoke. Douglas
is on stage at the courthouse, with Lincoln in forefront.
